Humberto Alvarez Group is a 100% Central American company. It was founded on August 22, 1930 by Humberto Alvarez in the city of Puntarenas, Costa Rica. He had in mind to create a customs services company focused on providing prompt and efficient service that meet the needs and expectations of his customers. By the end of the decade of the 30's, the company established offices in San Jose and Puerto Limon.
In 1958, the administration of the company is taken by Mr. Willy Spesny and Rosie Alvarez, daughter of Humberto Alvarez, who succeeded in consolidating its customer service and expand the service to the International Airport, El Coco, now called the International Airport Juan Santamaría. It is during these years that strategic alliances were made with other customs agencies establishing new businesses and service companies dedicated to offer services at the borders, checkpoints and stevedores in Puerto Limon.
During the 90's, the Group has initiated a process of diversification under the management of the third generation, Mr Hans Spesny, establishing new companies that offer complementary services to the customs broker, such as international transport, domestic transport, port services for merchant ships and passenger transport, storage services, fiscal and general administration and management of inventories and documents, aviation services (charters and charter flights), as well as project management and insurance.
